Trends: Say goodbye to white and beige…these are the hottest new tile trends
Tiles take the centre stage in bathroom design. Therefore, it is no surprise that choosing the right tiles can be overwhelming. There are many things to consider; tile size, colour, layout and grout colour, just to name a few! While an all-white bathroom can look beautiful, classic and light, it has been done (many, many times) before.
As tiles are more popular now than ever, we have identified the hottest trends to take you into Spring 2018.
Large floor and wall tiles
One design trend that is growing in popularity is large format tiles. Traditionally large bathroom tiles were 600mm x 600mm in size, however, large tiles are more popular than ever with sizes ranging from 800mm x 800mm to huge slabs at 1000mm x 3000mm. Large format tiles have less grout lines, which create uninterrupted floors or walls, creating a seamless and sophisticated look. They are also easier to clean and maintain, which is why our clients are embracing this tile trend.

Statement floors
Choosing a statement floor is a perfect way to add personality and flair to your bathroom. Statement floors create a focal point in your bathroom and complement plain white or neutral wall tiles. There is a lot of choice when it comes to deciding on your statement floor. A statement tile works wonderfully with mosaics, patterned tiles and different-shaped tiles such as hexagon.

Herringbone is the new subway
Herringbone tiles are a huge trend which continue to grow in popularity. Herringbone is a traditional pattern which has become fresh and modern and has been embraced within bathroom design. Herringbone tiles are extremely versatile, as they can be used on either walls or floors, creating an instant sophistication to your bathroom. We think the pictures speak for themselves.
Zellige tiles
Originating from Morocco these beautiful, handmade, glazed terracotta tiles are one of this season’s hottest trends. Zellige tiles add a stunning and organic appeal to bathrooms. They have a shiny finish when the light reflects off them and are perfect for showers or a vanity feature tile.
Colour
While white and beige tiles have dominated bathroom design, we are seeing colours such as blue, emeralds, soft greens and pastel pink stand out as tile colour alternatives. There is no denying that white and neutrals will always be in style and a good choice for your bathroom, however, clients are now starting to have more fun (and be a little more adventurous) when it comes to choosing their bathroom tile colour scheme.
